Selah Moment

A Selah Moment from Our Daily Bread

He is the King of glory. Selah. —Psalm 24:10

King David proclaimed: “The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory” (Ps. 24:10). The word Selah was later added to the end of this psalm and many others. Some believe it refers to an instrumental interlude because the psalms were often set to music. Biblical scholars also suggest other possible meanings, including “silence,” “pause,” “interruption,” “accentuate,” “exalt,” or “end.”
Reflecting on these words can help us to take a “Selah moment” to pause and worship God during the day.
Be silent and listen to the voice of God (Ps. 46:10).
Pause from a hectic schedule to be refreshed in spirit (Ps. 42:1-2).
Interrupt the day to do a spiritual inventory and be cleansed (Ps. 51:1-10).
Accentuate the joy of God’s provision through thanks-giving (Ps. 65:9-13).
Exalt the name of God for answered prayer in spite of disappointment (Ps. 40:1-3).
End the day by reflecting on the Lord’s faithfulness (Ps. 119:148).
David’s reflection on God included a Selah moment. Following his example will help us worship our God throughout the day. —Dennis Fisher
From your heart give God your praise

For His blessings all your days;
Lift your voice to God above—
God of mercy, God of love. —Hess

No day is complete without worship.

Psalm 24
Of David. A psalm. 1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. 3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD ? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. 5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior. 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Selah
7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty—he is the King of glory. Selah

Merry Christmas!

Praise the Lord! Uncle Barry is doing much better. He is even eating regular food again. We brought him some Chinese food and pumpkin pie yesterday for lunch. Today we will see him on our way up to Moogie and Gumpy's house and give him his gifts. We are thankful for your prayers.
Baby Jesus in Barry's nativity. The reason for Christmas!
We had Dum, Cass and Bub over for a party last night. We had a blast. Ate tons, watched veggie tales, visited. What could be more fun? Bob, Ab, Be, and Kat come over too after their party with Abbie's parents! It was fun.

What Lay May Sey...

We had a blast at Wildlights on Friday. She loved the little horses. She squealed for joy and danced when she saw them. I think, She remembered petting them a few weeks ago. Sey had her first cocoa, and she saw and recognized the moon for the first time.

Tried to pose Sey and Kat together for pictures tonight... ;-)
Thinking real hard.

Uncle Barry

Mason saw Uncle Barry this evening. He is feeling better. Constipation resolved. His speech seems more hesitant and slurred right now. He is still in the hospital. Thank you for your prayers.

What Lay May Sey...

If I'm high up in the air (lift arms high)
If I'm deep down in the sea (put arms low)
Anywhere or anyplace (spin in circles)
God goes with me (hold arms out at sides)

In the morning sunshine bright (hands high and round)
In the dark when I can't see (hands over eyes)
Anytime or anyplace (walk in a circle)
God goes with me (hands at side)
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Jn 8:12
Blowing Kisses... for you Grandma Pat, Grandpa Marvin and Grandma Carol!

update

Last night Uncle Barry was lucid! Yay! However, he was in a lot of pain due to constipation. The Doc came in around 5pm last night while Mason was there, and the Doc ordered some more pain medication for the poor guy. He was given an enema. Hopefully, he has been able to go by now. Another shocker was that the Doc said Barry has a broken hip! Months ago he did have a fall at Rose Haven during a shower, and he did complain of back pain for a while after that, but yikes! That is terrible that it was overlooked. He must have a high threshfold for pain. They are not going to do anything for it. There is nothing for them to do. Mason will be going to see him in a little bit today.

Please Pray

As I write this my heart is heavy. Uncle Barry is very ill. A nurse called us at 3:30am asking us if we wanted him to be sent to the hospital. We said yes. He had three seizures during the night. He is in the hospital. He is on comfort measures only. He is on oxygen and IV medication. I believe, he has a patch that is for pain relief. Mason went in at 4 this am to be with him and stayed until 6am. He then went to men's prayer at church and then went back to see Uncle Barry. Barry seems very tired (No wonder!). Mason was not sure if he recognized him. Barry did try to talk to Mason. Please pray for Uncle Barry. I talked to his Doctor this morning. He was very kind but honest. He is not sure if Barry will pull through this. The doctor believes that he has pneumonia, and Uncle Barry continuously battles a uti. Thank you for reading and praying.

Also, could you pray for Pat and Rhiannon. A tree fell on their house during the ice storms in Oklahoma, and they do not have any power. I am thankful they are ok. Please pray they will get power soon. Right now they are staying with a friend. Thanks.

But I cry to you for help, O Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you. Ps 88:13

Busy

Pa and Gran sold their house. Please pray that Pa and Gran and Dum will find houses. They have to be out by Jan 15! Please pray that everything will be packed up and moved without too much stress or difficulty. It is going to be a huge job. We helped throw out tons of stuff tonight. Kind of a crazy time to move, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

Sleep

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. PS 4:8
